Wow, the end of 2015 went out with a bang! I would like to thank all my amazing clients for such an awesome year... I look forward to what 2016 has in-store! Although the end of the year can get a bit hectic with holiday photo sessions, card designs, and an endless amount of editing, I am always reminded what dedicated and loyal clients I have. I am thrilled to see so many faces year after year! When all the beautiful holiday cards start to show up in my mailbox, I am reminded how lucky I am to have captured these sweet memories for so many families! I’ve documented this family for the past 6 years, from their toddler photos to a recent over-the-top Halloween party and every time the process is unique and a true collaboration.

They wanted to do something different for their holiday card so between me and mom hunting down the perfect props, we loaded up a wagon for plenty of options, including live trees donned in cranberry garlands. These boys are always a lively delight and played right along to create a unique beachside story that shows there’s no lack of love in this ever gracious family.

Cue the haunted house soundtrack. Planned for mom’s birthday, this family pulled out all the stops with a green screen photo booth to take spooky photos, a bounce house, karaoke, a magician, a caricature portraitist, a DJ, games for the kids, pumpkin decorating, an airbrush tattoo artist and of course a fully catered buffet with cocktail concoctions for the adults.

Shooting this spectacular and totally over-the-top family Halloween party for over 100 guests was a seriously tricked out and memorable treat!

The sun is shining, the weather is warm and the beaches are calling my name! It's time to head outdoors and and enjoy this amazing place that we call home. Before I head out to enjoy the day myself, I thought I would quickly share this fun shoot taken out at the Bacara Resort in Goleta, CA. It was a spectacular event with sweet treats, sparkles, and so much more! The event could not have been more beautiful and the venue was my dream come true! My gorgeous baby sister is graduating from middle school so we celebrated recently with a photo shoot at our barn. We did her hair and makeup in the breezy Santa Barbara way and stuck her in this vintage VW beauty parked in our driveway. (How it got there is a story for another day, but let’s just say it involves my German husband’s obsession with VW buses and their tendency to break down.)

Since making its appearance at the barn, I’ve done multiple shoots with it and every time it makes for a quintessentially cool California vibe. (Extra bonus that it doubles as babysitter and awesome hangout spot for my sons on a daily basis!) We have such fun with it, just like my little sis did. Look out high school, here she comes!

I started photographing these sweet girls almost 5 years ago when I dove head first into the world of children's photography. Each time we have our annual holiday photo shoot, I love seeing how much their relationship has grown. These two are especially kind and gentle with each other... Their energy is calm, loving and silly in all the right places. Being a mom of two rambunctious young boys, I forget that girls really are such different creatures. And you can really see it in their photos.

I’ve worked with this lovely family for a few years now - before their sweet baby girl arrived. I photographed her newborn session, their extended family over the holidays a few years back and numerous other family shoots over the years. These kiddos are so fun to photograph and I love chasing after them during our photo sessions, but they already know all the tricks I have up my sleeve. As a child photographer, I try to mix it up to get authentic laughter and smiles, but it is not always an easy task. These brothers give me a run for my money since they know my funny voices and all my jokes. I’m already dreaming up the next round to see if I can outsmart these clever boys...

Nearly 10 years ago when I graduated from the Brooks Institute of Photography and started my journey as a freelance photographer, I never imagined that I would be blessed with such a strong and amazing clientele that would come back year after year. Fast forward to the 2014 holiday season when I was so busy I could barely catch my breath. How things have changed! I want to say a big warm thank you to all of my amazing clients... You allow me to do what I love in one of the most beautiful places on earth. I can’t say enough thanks for the gift of your support and belief in my work! Happy New Year!

This year with so many returning families, many asked for new ideas to enjoy their photos year round. So I’ve been busy making some very cool custom wall designs that allow them to showcase their images at home. The results are stunning and entirely personal!

This photo shoot was one of my Mini Sessions from November. This silly little girl really knows how to bring it! Bonus that her mom loves the creative process and always brings the best props. Her red scarf is such a simple touch, but adds so much to the images. Love these images!

It’s no secret that this is one of my favorite times of year! After all, we’re still going to the beach in December when everyone else is bundled up. And I love how the twinkly lights come out and how we all race around madly trying to get everything done. There’s a sense of joy and renewal during the holidays, even if we feel like a hot mess getting there!

To celebrate the season, I set up my own holiday themed shoot with this sweet young lass, choosing a classic color palette of some of my favorite whites, creams and metallics. Paired with the late afternoon sun on a gorgeous ranch, it couldn’t be more California.

This holiday season, I wish you equal parts peace and laughter. I’m so honored to be able to do what I do - and grateful to the families who allow me to see how they grow and develop. A big thank you to all my new clients! And stay tuned for some of my favorite holiday photo sessions from 2014!

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that we live in paradise here in Santa Barbara. So whenever I have the chance to work with a visiting family, I love getting the fresh new perspective of Santa Barbara’s amazing natural beauty that comes from seeing it through the eyes of someone enjoying it for the first time.

This shoot was for a sweet family vacationing in Carpinteria for the week with their extended family. It was literally the perfect summer beach day: the sun was shining, there was a soft, warm breeze keeping us cool...nothing short of an ideal afternoon. And these two sisters couldn’t have been any sweeter - their interaction was so fun to capture!

What’s better than enjoying this gorgeous place we love so much? Having something beautiful to remember it by!

As summer is slowly coming to an end, I am finally getting around to posting some of my favorite shoots from the last few months. I had a blast photographing these two cuties at my Summer Mini Sessions held last month at Shoreline Beach in Santa Barbara. These two kiddos were so much fun to photograph... Love those big beautiful blue eye!! Just gorgeous!! The light was just stunning, the weather was warm, and the beach was empty (for the most part). It just doesn't get better than that!

I am just in love with the images from this photo shoot! The light, the environment, the clothes... Everything was just perfect! To top it all off, this sweet little girl could not have been more fun to photograph... So much energy, life, and silliness!! LOVE IT! All the bright and fun colors stand so brilliantly off of the natural tones of the environment around us.... Just beautiful! The bluffs of Santa Barbara are truly stunning here in the early summer! As the tall green grass and the wildflowers disappear for the season, our bluffs become a golden field just waiting to be photographed!

What a beautiful photo shoot with one of my favorite families in Santa Barbara! How darling are these three little children? I really don't think they could be any cuter if they tried! I just adore these images taken out at the Ellwood Butterfly Preserve in Goleta, CA. I have had the pleasure of photographing this sweet family for a couple years now... I just love watching these siblings grow into the the funny little people they are. The image above is one of my absolute favorite photos from this particular family photo shoot. It was the mother's hope to capture her daughter's big bright-eyed smile for her 6 month photo. We definitely got what she was hoping for! I just love this image!

Spring in Santa Barbara is one of my favorite times of the year! The wildflowers take over with their beautiful vibrant colors and make for some stunning backdrops for my outdoor photography sessions. The concept for this photo shoot was to capture the playfulness and high-spirited energy of this sweet girl running amongst the yellow wildflowers. This particular location is a special place for this family... They have been exploring and enjoying this area since their little girl was a baby. I just love everything about these photos... Not only are they beautiful images to look at, they have significant meaning to this family and they will cherish them forever. XOXO

I can't believe I am just now posting these beautiful images taken during a photo session way back in March! Where did the time go! It has been a very busy year so far for Rebecca Farmer Photography and I have many new projects in the works that I am very excited about! I am so grateful to all my wonderful clients for coming back year after year and trusting me to creatively document these special moments in time. The photographs I capture will stay with each family forever and that is why I love to do what I do! One of the best parts of being a photographer is to see the smiles and hear the reactions of my clients once they see their images. I love how excited they get once they view all the photographs from their sessions. It is so fun to make people's day by surpassing their expectations of what they thought the images were going to look like! Another reason that I love being a Newborn, Children and Family photographer is that I get to see each individual family grow and to meet their additions along the way... Love it! I have photographed these two red heads multiple times and they just keep getting cuter. How adorable are their blue eyes and bright red hair... So adorable!
